LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has accepted the resignation of University of Sahiwal Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Muhammad Nasir Afzal.
Mr Afzal was appointed as the first VC of the varsity in August 2018 after the then government notified Bahauddin Zakariya University’s Sahiwal sub-campus as a university in 2015.
A copy of the notification available with Dawn states: “The governor is pleased to accept the resignation of Prof Dr Muhammad Nasir Afzal, vice chancellor, University of Sahiwal.”
It further stated: “The governor is pleased to assign the additional charge of the post of the vice chancellor of University of Sahiwal to Prof Dr Zikria Zakar, vice chancellor [of] University of Okara for a period of six months or till the arrival of a regular incumbent.”

Special Representative of Prime Minister on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi called on Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar in Lahore on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they paid homage to the martyrs of Army Public School and stressed on the need of unity and solidarity in the fight against terrorism.
Speaking on occasion, the Punjab Governor said Pakistan has one of the best armed forces in the world and the whole nation is on one page against terrorism.
He said peace and stability in Pakistan is not being digested by India.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday said that tourism had exploded in Pakistan, as there was so much tourism presently which was not witnessed in the country’s history.
The prime minister emphasised that environmental protection of tourist destinations must be ensured, and noted that ecotourism had become a science. He was addressing the launching ceremony of Ecotourism: Travel Responsibility for Experiencing Eco Tourism (TREK).
Referring to Switzerland, he said that this country earns annually $80 billion only from skiing during winter season, while Pakistan’s total exports stood at $25 billion. He contended that there was so much potential in skiing in Pakistan, which hitherto remained undiscovered.
