‘Cabinet to be dismissed if PM fails’

ISLAMABAD: If Prime Minister Imran Khan is unable to get a vote of confidence on Saturday (today), the federal cabinet will be dismissed, said Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid on Saturday.
The interior minister said if the cabinet was dismissed due to a lack of vote of confidence, the premier will continue to work until the election of the next prime minister, the media reports. He also spoke about the Senate elections held earlier this week, saying all institutions remained neutral in the Senate polls.
Rashid agreed with former president Asif Ali Zardari s statement that less votes were bought than his estimate. Zardari had said a day earlier that Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Senate candidate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani secured fewer votes than expected as he was supposed to get at least 20 more votes. LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi on Friday was elected president of the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) Punjab chapter during intra-party elections held here.The elections were held under the supervision of the PML-Q constituted election commission headed by Ishtiaq Ahmed Gohar. Kamil Ali Agha was also elected unopposed general secretary of the party.
Pervaiz Elahi, addressing a virtual party meeting, said the PML, being the founding political party of the state of Pakistan, is defender of the ideological frontiers of the country, besides being the custodian of the solidarity of Pakistan. He said the PML-Q stands by the defence forces of the country and deems it a part of its faith to strengthen this institution.
Sharaqpuri tenders conditional resignation to Punjab PA speaker

LAHORE: PML-N rebel MPA Mian Jalil Sharaqpuri has tendered his conditional resignation to the Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi Monday.
The resignation sent by Jalil Sharaqpuri stated that if the entire panel resigns, his resignation may also be accepted. Jalil Sharaqpuri has stated if the members of NA-120, PP-127, PP-128 and PP-139 resign, then his resignation should be accepted. The rebel MPA has said if MNA Rana Tanveer, MPA Pir Ashraf Rasool and MPA Abdul Rauf resign by December 31, then resignations of all of us should also be accepted. We have a panel of four, we voted for each other. I offer joint resignation, he concluded.
