The government also relieved Member, Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Syed Haider Iqbal with immediate effect to join his new assignment under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government upon promotion to BS-20 on a regular basis. It appointed Nadeem Ahmad Abro, OSD, to BS-20 on an acting charge basis and posted him as Member, Chief Minister’s Inspection Team. The Punjab government relieved Punjab Zakat and Ushr department Secretary Alamgir Ahmed Khan with immediate effect to join his new assignment as senior joint secretary Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Division upon promotion to BS-21.

Speedo staff on strike for salary in Punjab Mass Transit Authority blames delay in govt subsidy release for company’s arrears LAHORE: Employees of Speedo Bus Service have gone on a strike in protest against non-payment of salaries for four months. Punjab Transport Minister Jehanzeb Khan Khichi took notice of the protest and directed the authorities concerned to resolve the matter at the earliest. The private company operating the bus service claimed that the salaries had been delayed because its arrears had not been received from the Mass Transit Authority. The authority, on the other hand, attributed the problem to a delay in receiving subsidy of Rs3 billion from the provincial government.

The decision to halt the service was taken to ensure security during the matches as both teams arrive and depart from the stadium. According to a PMA official, the service will be closed from 8am to 10am and 12:30pm in the afternoon till 2pm.

OLMT security staff torture labourers for lighting fire - Newspaper

LAHORE: The Orange Line Metro Train security staff was caught on camera on Friday morning torturing some labourers for lighting a fire near the elevators of the Awan Town train station that set off the safety alarms. The incident attracted public attention after a video went viral on social media, inviting severe criticism over the torture of poor workers. The video showed five labourers first being made to sit in a rooster position as a punishment and then being thrashed by the security staff with batons. The staff also abused the workers while beating them continuously despite their apologies. Reportedly, the labourers had lit a fire in the cold foggy weather early on Friday morning near the elevators of the Awan Town station. As soon as the smoke entered the elevated section of the station, the automatic safety alarms started ringing, alerting the security personnel deputed there.

The amount of monthly bills is expected to increase gradually with rise in temperature in coming months. The authorities concerned have started implementing a plan to save electricity, Dawn has learnt. “We have worked out Rs1.9bn annual billing for the entire operation (over Rs150m per month on average). But since start of the train operation from Oct 25 last year, the monthly bill ranged between Rs80m and Rs100m. It will increase with rise in temperature because of air-conditioners,” an official source told Dawn.
