LAHORE : Government College University Lahore faculty and other staff on Friday initially donated Rs3.5 million as Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi opened fundraising for the construction of a grand mosque on the main campus.
According to a press release, the fundraising campaign was started during the weekly Durs-e-Quran session where the university staff and faculty unanimously decided to construct the mosque but also made initial donations for the mosque.
The VC made the first donation for the mosque and then others.
The VC said a small gathering of faculty and staff members present in the auditorium donated Rs3.5 million. He said now the fundraising campaign was being opened to all students, faculty and staff of the university.
Punjab University issues schedule for semester exams

LAHORE: The University of Punjab administration Wednesday announced new schedule for semester examinations and online classes, ARY News reported.
A notification has been issued in this regard.
According to a notification, the classes and exams of semesters 4, 6 and 8 will resume online from 24th May 2021.
The decision was taken in a meeting of deans chaired by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed.
The meeting also decided that 2nd semester of BS (Hons.), M.A/M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D will resume soon after first semester exams and would continue without any break.
PU revises form submission schedule

Islamabad: The Punjab University on Monday issued the revised schedule for online submission of admission forms and fees for the MA and M.Sc (Part-I & II) annual examinations, 2021. The candidates having last chance of supplementary examination 2020 are eligible to appear in annual examination 2021, in lieu of supplementary examination 2020 (not conducted due to COVID-19), it said in a notice.
The university said the last date for receipt of online admission forms and fee for MA and MSc (Part-I & II) Annual Examination 2021 for regular/late college/private and improve division candidates was April 30, 2021, with a single fee, while the forms can be submitted with a double fee from May 1 to 14, 2021.
PU officials transferred over fake degrees issue

LAHORE:In the wake of recent LLB fake degree scam and subsequent verification of the fake degrees, Punjab University on Thursday transferred a number of officials from its examination department. Assistant Controller Parshant Singh, who was suspended along with other officials and facing inquiry under PEEDA Act, has been replaced by Faheem Aizaz, Assistant Registrar, VC Office. Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, Assistant Registrar, Directorate of Students Affairs has been transferred and posted as Assistant Registrar, VC Office, in place of Faheem Aizaz. Muhammad Javed, Deputy Controller Exams Department has been transferred and posted as Deputy Director Students Affairs while Hafiz Abdul Qayyum, Deputy Registrar, VC Office, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Director Students Affairs.
