Soon, mechanical sweeping in LIT colonies | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: After receiving complaints of poor sanitation in colonies maintained by Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT), the authorities plan to replace manual sweeping with the mechanized in these areas. Mechanical sweeping will start from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, as a number of its residents complained against poor sanitation. It will then cover colonies like Rishi Nagar, Rajguru Nagar and Sant Ishar Singh Nagar. The LIT will float tenders for hiring an agency to do the job. LIT officials said due to scarcity of manpower, sweeping remains a major concern. “We have received many complaints from residents of colonies about poor sanitation. We will hire a firm for mechanical sweeping in these colonies at a rate of Rs 625 per km,” they added.

If there will not be any difference in measurement, then work will start according to the proposed scheme otherwise they will have to change design to carry discharge to Tajpur Road STP. In order to stop people from throwing garbage inside the drain, chain link fencing project is also going to start for which a company has already been finalised. But before starting these works, commissioner has asked the officials of building branch to remove the encroachments around Buddha Nullah in next few days. There are chances that anti encroachment drive will also start in next few days.

Approvals for establishing new industrial units in sight

670 Hoshiarpur, December 17 The entrepreneurs/industrialists can get in-principal approvals for setting up their new units in the districts within 3 to 15 days under the Right to Business Act introduced by the state government, said Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait on Thursday, adding that the status of new industries to be set up in the district shall be reviewed in the meeting of District Scrutiny Committee (DSC). She also informed that under the Right to Business Act (RTB Act), the entrepreneurs and industrialists need not visit different offices like Forests Department, PWD, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Rural Development and Panchayats Department, District Fire Office, etc for getting the requisite approvals and NoCs as the RTB Act facilitates all clearances under one roof of investing in Punjab. MC plans to install 15 air quality monitoring systems in city | Ludhiana News

LUDHIANA: Under the national clean air programme, the civic body has proposed installation of 15 air quality monitoring systems at various locations in the city. These will be in addition to the systems planned by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB). A project report is being prepared by the municipal corporation on the basis of a study conducted by the PPCB on causes of air pollution. The civic body has prepared a project for monitoring 19 pollution-causing factors through these systems and once sites are finalised, it would move ahead with the installation. The censor-based systems will be installed at locations where pollution is severe.
