Further promises of construction of multilevel parking in each sector by fixing the location with the consent of the general public were made. They vouched to make amendments in rules that will allow developmental work to happen at a faster pace.
“For connecting Chandigarh-Panchkula, new routes and new roads will be constructed. LEDs and solar lights will be installed in all villages and cities for better arrangement of street lights, railway station towards Panchkula will be modernised, adding facilities like food courts. Further improvement and empowerment of fire services in Panchkula will be undertaken, strengthening of rainwater drainage and better maintenance of sewerage system will be looked at, expansion of parking area in the markets and making multilevel parking as possible will be constructed,” Goyal vouched.

Congress Mayoral candidate from Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia on Friday hit out at the BJP for claiming that she did not allow development in the city.
“In reality, it is BJP which put hurdles in the path of development rather than supporting it. Nobody could deny the development works carried out by us during our last tenure at Panchkula MC,” she said.
She further said: “Panchkula people have seen my work. We are here to serve them again.”
Talking about shifting of the garbage dumping site away from residential areas, she said that she prompted passed a resolution in the matter during her time, though however it was not executed further.

Panchkula on Wednesday became one of the six cities to be listed as model cities under the Smart Cities Challenge programme.
While congratulating the officers and employees of the Panchkula Municipal Corporation, MC Commissioner RK Singh said that in view of the employees’ better and hard work, the government of India has included Panchkula as a model city among six other cities named under the Smart Cities Challenge Programme, on Wednesday.
In a meeting held by the Commissioner, Executive Officer of the Corporation- Jarnail Singh and his team were specially congratulated.
Ahluwalia files nomination papers
Accompanied by Chander Mohan, the former Haryana deputy chief minister, the Congress mayoral candidate for Panchkula MC poll, Upinder Ahluwalia, filed her nomination papers on Wednesday. Banking upon the good works carried out by her during her last stint as city mayor from 2013-2018, she expressed confidence to win this time too with a big margin.
She said, “Around 1.90 lakh voters of 20 wards of Panchkula MC cannot be made fool by false propaganda. The people are well aware of who makes fake tall claims and who actually perform for community betterment. The development carried out by us during our last term speaks about us. We had left no stone unturned as far as development was concerned and we would be on our job from day one after getting re-elected.”
Panchkula MC elections: 32 candidates file nominations

While the nomination process for the Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections had started on December 11, it was only on Tuesday that candidates started pouring in to file their papers. As many as 32 candidates filed nominations, out of which 30 were for the post of councillor while two (from BJP) were for the post of mayor.
