PH to celebrate local film industry every September

President Rodrigo Duterte (MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) In Proclamation No. 1085, the President has declared the month of September as the “Philippine Film Industry Month.” “There is a need to recognize the invaluable contribution and sacrifices of all stakeholders and sectors of the film industry as well as provide avenues to showcase and celebrate the achievement and progress of the discipline of film and filmmaking,” the proclamation read. The President has directed the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) to lead the observance of the film industry month and identify programs and activities for its celebration. The council, created by law in June 2002, is mandated to promote the growth of the local film industry, organize film festivals, promote skills of Filipino talents on filmmaking, and establish a cinema evaluation system.
