This year's Emmys will air live on Sunday, September 19 at 8 p.m. ET (which is 5 p.m. PT). The ceremony will air on CBS as well as on-demand on sister streamer Paramount Plus.

The 73rd Emmy Awards has an airdate: CBS and the Television Academy announced Tuesday that this year’s Emmys will air live on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET (which is 5 p.m. PT). The ceremony will air on CBS as well as on demand on sister streamer Paramount Plus.

Host(s), producers and venue for the Emmys will be announced at a later date, however. The Television Academy also still has to decide how to handle this year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and whether it will be held over multiple nights like last year, or return to the previous setup of taking place over two nights the weekend before the primetime ceremony.

Sacha Baron Cohen, Lee Isaac Chung, Chloé Zhao and many others virtually won Golden Globes on a night filled with technical hiccups and awkward Zoom moments. One of the notable things missing were the moments where a person’s name is called and they make the long walk to the stage and accept their statuettes (who can forget Jacqueline Bissett’s long journey which was parodied on “Saturday Night Live” by Vanessa Bayer).
