BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - A Chico woman was held to answer murder charges in the Butte County Superior Court Friday, the Butte County District Attorney’s Office said.
36-year-old Nicole Schalles of Chico was held to answer second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence and driving under the influence causing great bodily injury, the district attorney’s office said.

Deputies arrest Oroville murder suspect 18 months later
Deputies said they arrested a suspect who killed a man in Oroville in December 2019.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - After 18 months of investigating, the Butte County Sheriff s Office said they made an arrest for the murder of an Oroville man in December 2019.
On Friday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Dylan Rice, 27, after they gathered enough evidence to connect him to the murder of Jacob McArthur, 39, according to the Butte County Sheriff s Office.
McArthur was killed after suffering a gunshot wound at a home located in the 700 block of Craig Access Road in Oroville. Detectives said they suspected the murder of McArthur was related to the illegal sales of marijuana.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - A Magalia man suspected of murdering a woman four years ago faced a judge for the first time on Thursday.
Action News Now spoke with the victim’s family who said all they want is justice for their loved one.
“One of my biggest memories of my childhood is when my mom and dad told us that they were expecting Jennifer,” sister of the victim Teri Topham said.
