Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon Oluwole Oke, issued the notice during the investigative hearing into the financial activities of ministries, departments and agencies, as well as private companies including Sapien Contracting Nigeria Limited, IMB West Africa, Total E&P, Total and Vixa Pharmaceuticals Nigeria Limited, which enjoyed capital allowances and import waivers from successive administrations. The lawmakers who expressed grave concern over the country’s dwindling revenue expressed optimism that the country can be self-sufficient in revenue generation if all leakages are blocked.

Contributory Pension: Going the way of old scheme? By Tue Feb 23 2021 The Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) was introduced in 2004 by then President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration to address the problems of late payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees. The CPS established via Pension Reform Act, 2004, covered both the public and private sector workers. For federal workers, the CPS is compulsory since inception, while some states are implementing the scheme. However, the problems associated with the old scheme had started to rear its ugly head. Under the CPS, retirees are supposed to be paid their entitlements three months after retirement. That was so at the initial stage, but not now.

FG Moves to Remove Ghost Workers from Payroll

Olawale Ajimotokan in Abuja The federal government has introduced control mechanisms to forestall the infiltration of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform by ghost workers. The move followed the implementation of the Human Resource (HR) component of the IPPIS in the Federal Civil Service. The initiative was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan. The circular, titled, ‘’New Procedure for enrolment of Federal Civil Service Employees on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) ref HCSF/CMO/IPPIS1/1/502,” reminded ministries of the need to obtain waiver for employment from the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation (OHCSF).
