NANS begs university workers to suspend strike, says action unjustifiable

Daily Post Nigeria Published The President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Com. Sunday Asefon, has warned that the incessant strike being embarked on by both the Academic and the Non-Academic Staff Unions of Universities, has pushed the university system to the verge of collapse. Asefon told the Non -Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) that, embarking on strike less than 30 days after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) suspended theirs, was more of ego and muscle flexing rather than advocacy for welfare improvement. The NANS President warned that such open and brazen display of rivalry by unions posed serious danger to the country’s ivory towers.

The investigation, THISDAY gathered, followed a petition by one Hajiya Sanusi Bilkisu, a grade level 14 officer, and Polytechnic Desk Expenditure Officer in the Budget Office, to the Head of Service of (HoS), Mrs. Folashade Yemi-Esan over alleged corrupt practices in the Budget Office. Bilikisu’s petition to the Head of Service was titled “Re: Complaint on inactions by the Director General Budget Office of the Federation over corrupt practices in the Budget Office the Federation (Expenditure) Social 1A.

Senate, Reps summon minister of health over controversial N10bn released for local production of COVID-19

Share The joint Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Health on Monday flagged off an investigation into the controversies trailing the purpose of the total sum of N10 billion released recently by Federal Government to Ministry of Health for local production of COVID-19 vaccines in the country. Senate Committee on Primary Healthcare and Communicable Diseases, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, who expressed the concern in Abuja, during an emergency meeting on the production of vaccines in the country, alleged that the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire misinformed Nigerians on the purpose of the N10 billion released which was for COVID-19 vaccine.
