SPRINGFIELD – Today, the Illinois House of Representatives unanimously passed House Joint Resolution 21, offered by State Representative Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich), to honor the memory of fallen United States Army Specialist Wesley R. Wells. SPC Wells, a life-long Libertyville resident, gave his life in 2004 while fighting insurgents in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. SPC Wells felt the call to service after the 9/11 terror attacks. He subsequently joined the United States Army to make a career out of protecting his country, said Bos. He paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation in 2004 while fighting insurgents in eastern Afghanistan. While designating a portion of Rt. 137 in his memory is a small act, by comparison, it is the least we can do to honor his sacrifice.
A kitchen fire in one unit at an Oakbrook Terrace apartment complex late Tuesday caused "significant damage" to the building, but no injuries, according to fire officials.
Delinquent rent in Chicago could now exceed $1B, according to a survey released last week by the Neighborhood Building Owners Alliance, a group of small and midsized Chicago landlords.
The high level of delinquency brought about by the coronavirus pandemic is leading to neighborhood disinvestment. With their revenue plunging to historic lows, 65% of landlords surveyed said they expect to make fewer capital improvements. In addition, nearly half expect to cut down on repairs and maintenance.
“With so much delinquent rent, many housing providers lack the funds to continue to maintain their properties,” NBOA President Michael Glasser said in a press release.

Hertfordshire Constabulary was initially called to an encampment in Wheathampstead and at least half a dozen caravans were pictured parked up on playing fields. Officers worked with council officers to move the group on but they soon pitched up in Harpenden. However, St Albans district police officers took to social media to reveal they took swift action to move them on again. Caravans parked on playing fields in Wheathampstead. Credit: St Albans Police
