After taking part in clinical trials last fall with inpatients, the health system launched a small scale out patient clinic at Butterworth Hospital after the Food & Drug Administration gave emergency use authorization. The infusion treatment features Eli Lilly’s Bamlanivimab and Regeneron’s Casirivimab and Imdevimab combination.

The Big Rapids City Fire Department responded to the structure fire at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, in the 100 block of Cardinal Court, an apartment on FSU property. Firefighters arrive on the scene two minutes later with reported smoke in the building.

The 14-story, $286 million building, which has 234-beds and provides treatment to infants, children and adolescents from Michigan and beyond, opened on Jan. 11, 2011. “Those who saw the need years ago for specialized care for our youngest patients were true visionaries,” Tina Freese Decker, Spectrum’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “Without them, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital would not be the vital community resource it is today.”

It was on January 11, 2011, the hospital opened the new facility offering expanded specialized care for babies, children, and teens. It s one of 220 childcare s hospitals around the country. âThose who saw the need years ago for specialized care for our youngest patients were true visionaries. Without them, Helen DeVos Childrenâs Hospital would not be the vital community resource it is today,â said Tina Freese Decker, president & CEO of Spectrum Health. âI would like to thank our physicians, caregivers, donors, patients and their families and the community as a whole for embracing our mission to advance pediatric care for the children in our region with outstanding programs and services.â
