Hy-Vee Pharmacies Partnering with Illinois to Provide COVID-19 Vaccinations
SPRINGFIELD – The State of Illinois is now partnering with Hy-Vee pharmacies across central and northern Illinois to offer coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccinations to eligible individuals. Hy-Vee has 16 locations in Bloomington, Canton, Galesburg, Hamilton, Milan, Moline, Macomb, Peoria, Peru, Rock Island, Silvis, Springfield, and Sycamore and estimates being able to provide up to 200 vaccinations each day.

The State of Illinois is also partnering with Walgreens and Jewel-Osco pharmacies to provide COVID-19 vaccinations. A total of 92 Walgreens locations and 92 Jewel-Osco locations have been added to the coronavirus.illinois.gov website, where you can find links to schedule an appointment.

Putnam County officials released an update on Covid-19 in Putnam County yesterday. All data provided is from 01/15/2021 through 01/21/2021, unless otherwise noted.
There are now a total of 6,845 laboratory confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Putnam County, an increase of 544 cases from the week ending 01/14/2021. 414 of the total cases are actively being monitored (but not yet released as 001/14/2021) by the Putnam County Health Department. There are currently 20 cases in Putnam County Hospital, a decrease of 5 from last week.
The Health Department reports that 6431 cases are classified Released or No Longer Isolated/Quarantined . Released cases includes cases that tested positive, were quarantined and monitored as well as possible cases that may have been exposed by close contact with a positive case. It should be easier and faster to get COVID-19 vaccine, but the hard truth is that a lot of our most vulnerable residents are having to wait too long to be vaccinated, Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell said.
Putnam County has almost 18,000 residents aged 65 or older. An estimated 2,600 residents work in law enforcement, firefighting or other protective service occupations. Another 6,200 or so residents work in education and libraries, which the Census lumps together. Then there are 3,900 healthcare practitioners, technologists and technicians. And don’t forget nursing home and group home staff and residents. All of those residents and more are eligible for vaccination under state rules.
