The Portland City Council is scheduled to consider the payment at its March 10 meeting.
Just weeks after the family of Quanice Hayes told KOIN 6 News they were close to something, the city of Portland settled an ongoing lawsuit stemming from the teen s police shooting death in 2017.
City officials confirmed a settlement was reached that will pay the Hayes family $1.5 million in a structured settlement, plus the nearly $600,000 in the family s attorney fees and costs.
The City Council is expected to consider the settlement at its March 10 meeting.
Hayes was 17 when he died. He was the suspect in an armed robbery near a Portland hotel and was shot to death by police after a series of seemingly connected crimes.
