Gavin Newsom has approved and signed the Golden State Stimulus package, which includes a one-time payment of $600 or $1,200 to low-income residents, including undocumented taxpayers. The one-time stimulus checks are slated to go to an estimated 5.7 million low-income residents making less than $30,000 a year. According to a release from the governor’s office, the stimulus checks will be provided to households “receiving the California Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for 2020” and to immigrants and undocumented “taxpayers with Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITINs) who were precluded from receiving the $1,200 per person federal payments issued last spring and the more recent $600 federal payments.”
