Erbil Nadia’s Initiative (NI), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are working together to scale up support to Yazidi survivors of genocide. USAID, IOM and NI will assist members of the community who survived the genocide in accessing durable solutions through the construction of new housing units in close proximity to the old town, alongside other tailored measures to help families feel safe, heard, and supported in their recovery.
IOM Iraq and NI will also support the community’s memorialization efforts, through the conversion of select sites into memorials, and measures to protect the cemetery where the remains of individuals exhumed from Kocho’s mass graves are now being reburied.

Erbil – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Toyota Iraq Corporation recently signed a partnership agreement to provide vocational training and improve employability for young people in Iraq.
Iraq is grappling with the cumulative effects of past conflicts on its development, which has left the country vulnerable to renewed conflict. The COVID-19 pandemic and falling oil prices further exacerbated the existing economic and political challenges in the country, pushing vulnerable populations into even more delicate situations. IOM supports the Government of Iraq in promoting stabilization in some of Iraq s most vulnerable communities, including through livelihoods opportunities.
IOM Iraq signs Agreement with the Commission of Border Crossing Points [EN/AR/KU]

Baghdad The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Iraq has signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Commission of Border Crossing Points. This agreement will lead to stronger migration and border management capacities for the Government of Iraq, through tailored interventions that aim to meet the objectives of the Global Compact on Migration and the national strategic framework, that includes the National Migration Strategy.
The MOC will be realised as part of IOM Iraq’s ongoing support for the Government of Iraq’s capacity building efforts in the area of migration management, and through engagement with the newly established National Migration Strategy.
