On January 11, Abela won the party contest and two days later took over from Joseph Muscat, who was riding high in popularity despite having sunk his government deep in the mire of bad governance.

Jan 8, 2021 WARREN Sharon Regional Medical Center plans to close its Hermitage, Pa., cancer care center March 8 due to low patient demand, the hospital announced. “Despite our best efforts, patient demand has remained low, and Sharon’s cancer care center remains significantly underutilized,” hospital spokeswoman Rochelle Penman stated in an emailed statement Thursday. “We will begin transitioning patients of Sharon Regional’s Cancer Care Services so that there is no disruption to their care and treatment plans.” All patient transfer arrangements will be made before March 8. Patients can go to the facility of their choice, and their records will be transferred. There are facilities in Mercer County, Pa., and eastern Ohio.

O Malley received the first of the two-dose protocol of the Moderna vaccine for the coronavirus Dec. 24 at St. Elizabeth s Medical Center. The archdiocese said that the cardinal hopes to demonstrate that the vaccine is safe and wishes to encourage people to be vaccinated when possible. In a statement, Cardinal O Malley expressed his gratitude to Dr. Joseph Weinstein, chief physician executive of the Steward Health Care Network, who offered to arrange his vaccination after learning that the 76-year-old cardinal qualified for it.

Demolition for FoxRock s Ashlar Park project set to start in March

QUINCY The development company poised to turn the Quincy Medical Center site into a massive residential complex says demolition of the hospital buildings is set to start in March, and construction should begin in mid-2021.  FoxRock Properties, owned by Granite Telecommunications CEO and Quincy native Rob Hale, recently released updated projections for its Ashlar Park project, which includes 465 apartments spread over seven buildings as well as 590 garage and ground parking spots on the 15-acre former hospital campus. The Hospital Hill project will have been in the works for roughly five years by the time demolition begins, a timeline that has become a sore spot with city residents and officials.
