Nebraska is an odd duck state. While they are pushing Blue State woke ideology in terms of education, when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, they seem to be strict constitutionalists, and Governor Pete Ricketts has taken a stand to protect his citizens’ right to bear arms, WOTW and the Associated Press reported:
Gov. Pete Ricketts on Wednesday signed a proclamation declaring Nebraska a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State.”
In the proclamation posted on the governor’s website, Ricketts again attacks the Biden administration’s recent push for new gun control measures and holds Congress accountable for the same.
Officials have revealed the identity of a teenage student who was shot dead by police in the bathroom of a Knoxville high school in Tennessee on Monday.
Anthony J. Thompson Jr., 17, was killed after police responded to a report of a person with a gun at Austin-East Magnet High School.
His identity was revealed as authorities revealed that a police officer who was seriously wounded during a struggle with the student inside the high school bathroom was not shot by the student s hand gun, as was first thought.
The new report of the incident, released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, appears to indicate that the officer was, instead, shot by police during the confrontation.
Knoxville Police Department announced the shooting at Austin-East Magnet High School on Monday afternoon.
While residents were warned to avoid the area of active investigation, two anonymous sources told Knox News the situation was no longer “active”.
Multiple agencies that responded to the shooting blocked access to parts of the neighbourhood, while school spokeswoman Carly Harrington told the outlet the school was in lockdown as the investigation unfolded.
The school established a nearby baseball field near Wilson Avenue and Hembree Street as a reunification site for parents to find their children after the school lockdowns was lifted.
