Vermont state trooper from Bradford, Vt., accused of domestic assault Nicholas Cianci, 25 Modified: 3/3/2021 8:54:21 PM BRADFORD, Vt. A 25-year-old Vermont State Police trooper has been cited into court on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge following a three-month investigation, according to a news release from the Vermont State Police on Wednesday. Trooper Nicholas Cianci is accused of physically assaulting and threatening a woman he was in a relationship with multiple times last year at a home in Bradford, the release said. The investigation began in early December, when the woman obtained a temporary relief from abuse order against Cianci and spoke with detectives, according to police. Troopers cited Cianci late Wednesday afternoon.

Cianci is a detective trooper with the Vermont State Police assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations-Troop A East based at the St. Johnsbury Barracks. He has been on paid relief from duty since December 7, 2020. He had been on paid relief from duty since December 7, 2020. His current status as of March 3 is unpaid relief from duty while the investigation continues.

Police identify victim in suspicious death investigation in St Johnsbury

Tue, 02/16/2021 - 9:59am tim Vermont Business Magazine Investigators with the Vermont State Police and the St Johnsbury Police Department on Tuesday concluded processing the scene on Railroad Street in St Johnsbury where Johnnie Simpson was found unresponsive last Friday.  Detectives are awaiting a final determination from the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington on the cause and manner of Mr. Simpson’s death. This is pending toxicology testing, which could take several weeks.  Investigators are examining all possibilities connected to this case and continue to ask that anyone with information call our St. Johnsbury barracks at 802-748-3111, or provide a tip anonymously online by visiting vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit. 

VSP: Missing teen located, safe, investigation concluded

Fri, 01/29/2021 - 5:49pm tim Vermont State Police At about 2:30 pm Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, members of the federal Homeland Security Investigations, working on this case in conjunction with the Vermont State Police, located Leydi Lopez safe out of state. Lopez spoke with investigators and indicated she left Vermont voluntarily and wished to remain out of the state, which as an 18-year-old adult she is free to do. State police have determined there was no criminal behavior associated with Ms. Lopez’s disappearance and have concluded the missing-persons investigation. The state police thanks the members of the public who provided information about the case, as well as our law-enforcement and first-responder partners who devoted time and resources to the investigation.
