Man avoids time behind bars over dangerous weapons offer

Premium Content Subscriber only A man has avoided spending time behind bars after he offered to supply someone with a pump action shot gun. Christopher David Howard, 42, pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday to a number of offences including unlawful supply of a category C/E weapon and driving with a drug present in his saliva. The court heard Howard offered to supply someone with a pump action shot gun in February 2019. Police prosecutor Sergeant Grant Klaassen told the court Howard had been dealt with in court previously for weapon offences. Howard’s lawyer Rian Dwyer told the court his client only offered to supply the weapon and that there was no actual supply involved.

Man in court for exposing himself at local shopping centre

Premium Content Subscriber only A magistrate has suggested a man not go back to a local shopping centre after he exposed himself to a woman shopping at Kmart. Joshua Steven Robinson, 43, pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday to one charge of indecent act in any place with intent to insult or offend any person. The court heard the victim was shopping at Kmart at Hinkler Central last year when she saw Robinson approach and stand near her. She turned around and saw that Robinson had removed his genitalia from his pants and lifted his jumper. The court heard she turned around and moved away from him but he then exposed himself to her again a short time later.

Man fined for driving, drugs and having lock picking tools

Premium Content Subscriber only A man who picked locks as a hobby has received more than $6000 in fines after facing a raft of different charges. Andrew Norman Bauer pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday to a number of charges including possessing an instrument of house breaking at night, driving without a licence and possessing a knife in a public place. The court heard police were doing patrols at Kepnock on October 2 last year when they came across Bauer at 1.15am trying to push start a motorbike which he had been riding away from police. Police spoke with Bauer after identifying him as the rider.

Stern warning for man with totally unacceptable history

Premium Content Subscriber only Magistrate John Smith has warned a man not to even think about driving until he has a valid Queensland drivers licence or lawful authority in his hands. Travis John Landt, 24, appeared in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Thursday, pleading guilty to one count of driving without a licence disqualified by a court order, and one count of driving while over the no alcohol limit, but not over the general alcohol limit while holding a provisional licence, learner licence or unlicensed. Police Prosecutor Sergeant Grant Klassen said Landt was stopped by police for a random check along Woodgate Rd, Goodwood, on October 3 last year which revealed his licence was disqualified.

Man jailed for using stake to threaten people in home attack

Premium Content Subscriber only A man has pleaded a magistrate to reconsider his offer after he was sentenced to jail time for using a wooden stake to cause fear near a Walkervale home on Friday night. Caine Nicholas Wilshire pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday to one count of going armed so as to cause fear and wilful damage. He appeared in the courtroom via videolink from the Bundaberg Watch House, where he spent the weekend in custody after the incident. The court heard police were called to Maynard St on Friday night after they received reports of an armed person threatening people living in a home in the area.
