VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam, which is conducting protests and agitations against the Vizag Steel Plant privatisation move, launched a ‘missed call’ campaign. The ‘Save Visaka Steel’ missed call campaign records people s voices supporting the stir. In two days, it has received more than 20,000 missed calls.

CPI(M) State secretary P. Madhu said that the decision of the Centre to privatise Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) will not be allowed at any cost.
Addressing a massive meeting of VSP workers and trade unions at Kurmannapalem here on Thursday, Mr. Madhu said that the Central government, after assuming power for the second consecutive time, has embarked on a privatisation mission.

‘Writing a letter to Prime Minister is of no use’
Former Minister K. Atchannaidu has alleged that neither the State government nor the Chief Minister are bothered about the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant(VSP).
Speaking to the media here on Monday, Mr. Atchannaidu said that TDP Parliamentary district president Palla Sinivas was on an indefinite fast for protection of the VSP, but the State and Central governments were not responding. The Chief Minister has not spoken on the issue for the past one week and writing a letter to the Prime Minister was of no use, he said.
