You can thank Cole and Ella Emhoff for the term, Momala. Jan 21, 2021
In her victory speech as the vice president-elect, Kamala Harris honored not only the brave women who came before her, but also the loving family members who supported her throughout her campaign and beyond. Those who received special thanks included her husband, lawyer Doug Emhoff, and his two kids, Cole and Ella Emhoff. To my husband Doug; our children, Cole and Ella; my sister, Maya; and our whole family, I love you all more than I can express, Harris said while addressing her historic win. We are so grateful to Joe and Jill [Biden] for welcoming our family into theirs on this incredible journey.

A few minutes before noon, former VP Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. and former Senator Kamala Harris were sworn in on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Biden and Harris are now the U.S.’ new President and Vice-President, respectively.
A little over two centuries after John Adams became the nation’s first vice president, Kamala Harris made history as she became the first African American woman, and the first woman of South Asian descent that has ever been sworn into such a high-profile position in the country and it was Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first female Justice of Latinx descent to serve on the Supreme Court, who administered the oath.

Today and tomorrow will feature periods of rain and cloudy conditions with highs in the 50s and 60s across Alabama. At midday temperatures are in the 40s and 50s, but will continue to warm as we head into the afternoon. There is no risk for severe storms, and probably no thunder as the air is stable. Rainfall totals over the next 36 hours will range from 1/2 inch to around one inch for much of North and Central Alabama, but there will be higher amounts, closer to two inches possible across South Alabama.
Most of the rain today is relatively light, but we should see heavier pockets of rain tonight and through the first half of tomorrow as an upper wave tracks across Alabama along the stalled front to the south.
