âUnfortunately, the male did not survive his injuries,â said Nik Rasheta, a Mesa Police Department spokesman. âWe also located the vehicle involved and the investigation is ongoing.â
On the Facebook home of the group Bike Mesa, people were saddened but not
surprised.
âOnce again, Country Club, where bicyclists and pedestrians are targets and prey,â commented Alycia de Mesa-Weeden. âWe hate this road with a passion to try to navigate safely.â
Luis Montes suggested this was an avoidable situation:
âThe blame goes on the driver and everyone in our local government that hasnât worked towards safe transportation.â

TEMPE, AZ The U.S. has reached what health officials have called a complicated stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, with cases and hospitalizations increasing in some parts of the country despite the quickening pace of vaccination.
Nationally, the seven-day average of new cases, which had fallen steadily from its peak of nearly 250,000 in January, is rising again, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. Over the week ending April 14, new cases averaged 69,577 8.1 percent higher than during the previous week, when the seven-day average stood at 64,340. More than 31.2 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported since the pandemic began.

MESA, Ariz. Multiple calls and a doctors’ note weren’t good enough to initially convince a Valley medical center to allow the husband of an ICU patient with memory loss to stay overnight in the hospital to care and advocate for his wife.
“They said because visiting hours are 10 (a.m.) to six (p.m.),” said Robert Russo after he admitted his wife to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa for congestive heart failure Tuesday night.
