Corwin Law Firm Files Class Action Lawsuit against Event Entertainment Group, City of Miami over COVID Cancellation of the 2020 Ultra Music Festival

MIAMI, April 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Corwin Law, a consumer rights law firm based in Boca Raton, has filed a class action lawsuit against Event Entertainment Group and the City of Miami on behalf of Florida residents who purchased tickets to the 2020 Ultra Music Festival that was scheduled to take place March 20 – 22, 2020 at Bayfront Park in Miami Beach.
Attorney Marcus W. Corwin stated that the cancellation of the 2020 festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic was disguised as a postponement, with promises of an enhanced benefits package for the 2021 festival to ticket purchasers in lieu of issuing refunds. Now that the 2021 event has been canceled, promoters of the event have once again contacted ticketholders offering more promises, but still no refund.

Local 10 News got exclusive tours of the circuit courts in Miami-Dade and Broward counties as they prepare to resume in-person trials.
The Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County, the largest circuit in Florida, is getting ready to resume in-person jury trials next month.
Temperature screenings and social distancing measures will be in place among the new safety measures, part of a “choreographed dance,” Eleventh Circuit Judge Andrea Wolfson says.
“The jurors are going to be greeted at least one, if not two, bailiffs,” she says, before being escorted to an elevator limited to two at a time.
First Assistant Public Defender Ron Lewis is among 11 candidates who have filed applications to succeed former McLean County Public Defender Carla Barnes, who recently was named a circuit judge.
Three other current public defenders Matthew Koetters, Mark Messman and Joseph Moran also filed applications for the post.
Former public defender Jennifer Patton, now in private practice in Bloomington, joins local defense lawyers Chris Gramm and Mark Zalcman as candidates. Edward McKibbin, who serves as students’ attorney for Illinois State University, rounds out the list of local lawyers on the list.
Candidates from outside Bloomington-Normal include Pontiac attorney Larry Necheles, Chicago attorney Meanith Huon and Brady Lee Allen from Coles County.
