Attorney Marcus W. Corwin stated that the cancellation of the 2020 festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic was disguised as a postponement, with promises of an enhanced benefits package for the 2021 festival to ticket purchasers in lieu of issuing refunds. Now that the 2021 event has been canceled, promoters of the event have once again contacted ticketholders offering more promises, but still no refund.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County, the largest circuit in Florida, is getting ready to resume in-person jury trials next month. Temperature screenings and social distancing measures will be in place among the new safety measures, part of a “choreographed dance,” Eleventh Circuit Judge Andrea Wolfson says. “The jurors are going to be greeted at least one, if not two, bailiffs,” she says, before being escorted to an elevator limited to two at a time.

11 Candidates File For McLean County Public Defender Job

First Assistant Public Defender Ron Lewis is among 11 candidates who have filed applications to succeed former McLean County Public Defender Carla Barnes, who recently was named a circuit judge. Three other current public defenders Matthew Koetters, Mark Messman and Joseph Moran also filed applications for the post.
