Dr Rowley: ‘The most efficient and viable solution for Tobago’; THA to get 15 districts
“In the forty year history of the Tobago House of Assembly, there has never been an even share of seats to respective political parties resulting in such a deadlocked election result in Tobago.
“Further, given that the number of electoral districts is an even one there is the real possibility of the reoccurrence of such a deadlocked result if a fresh poll is taken with the existing twelve electoral districts in the island of Tobago.
“In this regard, it has been advised that the Act be amended to increase the number of electoral districts to an odd number which will lessen the likelihood of a possible recurrence of a deadlocked result…”
T&T’s silent holocaust: From Ceiba to Chaconia how CEPEP follows ‘Sir’ Woodford’s racist footsteps
In honour of our fifty-eighth Independence anniversary, I visited Woodford Square, aka
The People’s University, where seeds of Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence grew. But instead of feeling pride, I felt shame.
Twenty tree stumps, envoys of once stately trees, left to rot without love or dignity illuminated Marcus Garvey’s words:
a people without knowledge of their past… is like a tree without roots’.

Have a disciplined Christmas! Gov’t offers vaccine update, schools target, and measure for UK travellers
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley pleaded with businesses and vacationers in Tobago to remain vigilant at today’s press conference, which is expected to be the last Covid-19 briefing before Christmas Day.
The government will retain current novel coronavirus protocols until 10 January at the earliest. And Rowley warned the public not to let their discipline drop in the season of merriment.

“We are seeing and hearing that some people are dropping their guard,” said Rowley. “I want to appeal to the business community this might be your best week, I know that [but] don’t let it be the week that we have lost the gains we have made. Continue to emphasise sanitation, distancing and the lack of congregation.
Demming: Don’t blame public servants for everything; leadership is taking responsibility
It is easy to blame public servants’ ‘mistakes’ for an eight-month delay in appointing the Board of the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) as reported in a recent newspaper article.
Public servants have become the most recent whipping horse of a government whose inaction contributes to the poor quality performance of the public service. Between 2015 and today, there is no discernible improvement in service delivery at our government offices.

As an aside, I recently tried to make an appointment with the Companies Registry and discovered that there is a difference between ‘unavailable, not available and not yet available’. The result is that I cannot make an online appointment for the foreseeable future.
‘Mischievous and malicious!’ Renne initiates legal action against Braveboy, after latter’s Boodan defence
Trinidad Express investigative journalist Denyse Renne has initiated legal action against political blogger Marcia Braveboy for ‘egregious false claims and deliberate inaccuracies’, after an attack on the former’s integrity on social media.
Braveboy, in a direct response to the ‘unmasking’ of Express columnist Darryn Boodan as the corporate communications officer of Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, took to Facebook to even the score on Friday 18 December.
