Darjeeling (West Bengal) [India], July 9 (ANI): A female red panda gave birth to two cubs on Thursday at Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (PNHZP) in Darjeeling.
Dharmdeo Rai, the director of the PNHZP, said after the birth of two panda cubs, the population of the species at the centre has increased to 25.
Speaking to ANI, Rai said, Both mother and cubs are fine. We are keeping them under constant watch. The birth took place at our conservation breeding center. (ANI)

Kolkata, May 3 : Considering the steep rise in Covid cases in the state, the West Bengal forest department has announced indefinite closure of all the 12 zoos across the state, including the Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata.
As the department wants to ensure that there is minimum congregation at all the units under its aegis, it has also announced that all eco-tourism projects and lodges will be closed for visitors.

Speaking to ANI, Director of Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Dharmdeo Rai said, Today morning, a snow leopard gave birth to a cub. Both mother and cub are fine and doing well. The total number of snow leopards at the park now stands 13 , Rai said.
Earlier in October 2020, Union Minister of State for Environment Forest and Climate Change Babul Supriyo has said that the Government of India has been conserving snow leopard and its habitat through the Project Snow Leopard (PSL). The PSL was launched in 2009.
