Bornean Rajah Scops Owl Reappears After 125 Years – Veterans Today | Military Foreign Affairs Policy Journal for Clandestine Services

But Otus brookii brookii, a Bornean subspecies of the Rajah scops owl, hasn’t been observed by scientists since 1892, and its song is unknown, making it that much harder to find. Now, for the first time in more than 125 years, researchers have documented the Rajah scops owl in a study published last month in the  Wilson Journal of Ornithology. In May 2016, Andy Boyce, an ecologist with the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center, carefully observed and photographed the owl in Sabah, Malaysia. Boyce was working on his Ph.D. at the time with the University of Montana, researching how different bird species behave across various elevations. In collaboration with local residents, Sabah Park officials and several individuals from indigenous communities, like the Dusun, the rediscovery took place during a 10-year study of avian evolution in the forests of Mount Kina

The parents of Stone Foltz, the 20-year-old Bowling Green State University student who died from alcohol poisoning after an alleged hazing ritual in March, have filed a wrong death lawsuit against the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and several of its members, CBS News reported.  The lawsuit that was filed on Tuesday alleged that Foltz, and other pledges who were being enlisted into the fraternity were blindfolded, taken into a basement and forced to drink an entire bottle of alcohol – the equivalent of about 40 shots.

MVCTC announces 2021 valedictorians, salutatorians R-H Staff Smith ENGLEWOOD, Ohio The Miami Valley Career Technology Center has announced several local students as valedictorians and salutatorians of the Class of 2021. Valedictorian – Alec Dolan, Computer Networking & Cyber Security student from Brookville. He plans to attend Bowling Green State University in the fall. Alec was awarded the US Air Force ROTC Scholarship and will study Computer Science and Finance. Valedictorian – Zoey Collins, Dental Assisting student from Preble Shawnee. She plans to continue her education and become a Dental Hygienist. Valedictorian – Alina Fore, Early Childhood Education student from Eaton. She will be attending Indiana University East to further her education in Elementary Education.
