There were zero reported deaths from college hazing incidents in 2020, but as campuses reopen to students, there have already been two hazing-related deaths this year. Eight men face a range of charges, including involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, evidence tampering and failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, after Stone Foltz, a sophomore at Bowling Green State University, died on March 7 of alcohol poisoning.

At a news conference on April 29, Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson described the fraternity event in which initiates were told to drink 750 milliliters of hard alcohol or about 40 shots, according to Hank Nuwer, editor of
Tanitoluwa Adewumi, a 10-year-old in New York, just became the country s newest national chess master.
At the Fairfield County Chess Club Championship tournament in Connecticut on May 1, Adewumi won all four of his matches, bumping his chess rating up to 2223 and making him the 28th youngest person to become a chess master, according to US Chess. I was very happy that I won and that I got the title, he says, I really love that I finally got it.

PCHS names Top Ten students, Honored Educators
PORT CLINTON - The Top Ten Students of Port Clinton High School and the other Ottawa County High Schools usually attended the annual Ottawa County Top Ten Banquet with their honored educators.
This year, PCHS Top Ten and honored educators were recognized in the PCHS Performing Arts Center on April 28. An honored educator is a person in the educational system who the student has been profoundly influenced by and who they choose to honor.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Rebecca Catherine Honeycutt, 29, tragically passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021. She was of the Greek Orthodox faith.
Rebecca was born April 22, 1992, in Ravenna, to Gary and Thelma “Teddi” Humberger of Newton Falls.
She was a 2010 graduate from Newton Falls High School,and a 2014 graduate from Bowling Green State University, with a B.A. in leisure, tourism and event planning.
Anyone who knew Rebecca knew she was a strong-willed woman with a delightful and outgoing personality, who gave selflessly of her time and energy. She was well-organized and talented in numerous categories, allowing her artistic and creative ideas become her labors of love. Rebecca had a heart of gold and loved to play with children. She had a passion to help others and became involved with helping children who were in the Shriner’s hospital.
