Few people know the ravages of COVID-19 like Marlyn Hoilette, a front-line nurse at Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee.  She has held the hand of patients, without family present, as they were put on ventilators and watched others take their last breath. She has watched colleagues come down with the virus and be hospitalized. And Hoilette caught the virus herself and was given a 50-50 chance of surviving, she said.

6216897904001 Emmanuel McNeely says that like many young African Americans, he didn t have much of a chance to become a doctor, let alone a surgeon. But at age 17, he got a job at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Still, he wasn t sure of his professional direction.  I knew I liked chemistry but that was it. It wasn t until I shadowed a surgeon that I said, Wow, this is possible and I want to do this, he told CBN News. He would continue his studies at Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) and is now pursuing his doctorate in medicine at Florida Atlantic University s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine where he plans to complete his degree in 2023.
