Palm Beach County Victim Services empowers survivors during Sexual Assault Awareness Month April 6, 2021 at 11:45 PM EDT - Updated April 6 at 11:46 PM April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Palm Beach County Victim Services is hosting a series of events to shine a light on the free resources available to the community. On Tuesday, a drive-through exhibit was held in West Palm Beach with a survivor art installation entitled “What Were You Wearing?” It features the stories of five survivors and showcases the clothing items they wore on the day of the attack. The purpose of the installation is to help shift the cultural attitude that a survivor could have prevented an attack by wearing something less revealing.

and last updated 2021-04-06 13:39:09-04 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — State lawmakers are bolstering their efforts to create a database to track rape kits in Florida. State Rep. Emily Slosberg, D–Boca Raton, and Senator Linda Stewart, D–Orlando, held news conference in Tallahassee to discuss HB 673/SB 1002, also known as Gail s Law. HB 673 passed a House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday with bipartisan support. The measure now heads to the House floor for a vote. If passed, the legislation would require the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to create and maintain a statewide system for tracking sexual assault evidence kits from the point of collection through the criminal justice process.
