The search is on for the pilot of a plane that crashed off the Palm Beach County coast.
They found the wreckage, but not the pilot.
The U.S.Coast Guard and several agencies have been searching the waters off the Boynton Beach Inlet since Sunday night when a single-engine Piper aircraft went down.
The FAA says the plane had taken off from the Palm Beach County Park Airport on its way to the Merritt Island Airport. Workers lost radar and radio contact with the 24-year old pilot just after 8 p.m.
A witness reported hearing a loud boom and watching the plane nose dive into the water.

Officials reported a small plane crash Sunday evening in Boynton Beach.
A single-engine Piper PA-28 was reportedly lost shortly after 8 p.m. as it was traveling from Palm Beach County Park Airport to Merritt Island Airport.
The Palm Beach Sheriff s Department is handling the search.

The United States Coast Guard located a small plane Monday that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off of the South Florida coast with divers later finding the body of a man inside.
Petty Officer Jose Hernandez told news outlets that the agency received a call around 8 p.m. Sunday regarding the Piper PA-28 Cherokee plane going down about a mile off Boynton Beach Inlet.
