Police union wants PBSO to take over school district police department April 16, 2021 at 3:11 PM EDT - Updated April 16 at 4:16 PM In the wake of the Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association President John Kazanjian said the association voted on Friday to ask PBSO to submit a proposal to merge with the school district s police department and take over operations. It s about time that he left. Because since he s been over there, the morale has just gone as low as it can get, Kazanjian said of Kitzerow s resignation. I m glad he s gone. Kazanjian said the low morale is attributed, in part, to Kitzerow bringing in his own policies, trying to change the culture of the department, and running an operation that was too heavy on administration.

David England took the helm after former Chief Dan Kerr s retirement in February. He shares positive news. We re down 14% in our traffic crashes. We have 19 less than we had through the same time period (Feb 20 - Feb 21) last year. And for crimes, we re actually down 20 percent. We re down 14 incidents from the same time again last year. Chief England says his team works hard to get those numbers down. We re pleased. You know, we put a lot of effort into going out into the community and not only solving crimes, but preventing crimes.

Mayor Kerner Calls For Moment Of Silence In Honor Of Fallen PBSO Employees

By Joel Malkin Apr 16, 2021 Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner started Thursday s COVID-19 update with a moment of silence for the local members of law enforcement lost to the coronavirus. I spoke with some senior leadership at the Palm Beach County Sheriff s Office and that we ve had over the course of COVID-19 seven PBSO employees pass away from COVID-19. The most recent employee that passed away last week was under the age of 50. We ve had five employees in PBSO who were 49 or younger and one was in their thirties. The Sheriff s Office posted on Facebook this week: It is with profound sadness that we inform our PBSO family and friends of the loss of Deputy Carlos Hernandez.
