Palm Springs is like no place else as a community, we pride ourselves in helping each other. What unites the Palm Springs business community is the shared belief that when we thrive together, everyone benefits.
PS Resorts, the association of hospitality businesses, recognized how effective “Forever Marilyn” had been as a draw when it was previously in the downtown area. For 26 months, visitors lined up and patiently waited to have photos taken that were then shared worldwide online. These social media images promoted Palm Springs and its gorgeous San Jacinto Mountain backdrop in so many positive and priceless ways. That is why PS Resorts is investing over $1 million of the association’s money to bring the statue back to Palm Springs.

Plans to place ‘Forever Marilyn’ statue outside PS Art Museum allowed to move forward
A judge has officially cleared the way for the Forever Marilyn statue to go up at its originally planned site on Museum Way in downtown Palm Springs. Friday morning, the judge denied an injunction to stop the placement of the statue, and also lifted a restraining order that halted the process. Among the decisions, a tentative ruling was recently put forth in favor of the plan, and on Friday the judge affirmed that decision, allowing the contentious debate of the statue s placement to proceed. We re pleased with the judge s ruling. We think [the judge] got the decision right in terms of what the law is, said Palm Springs City Attorney, Jeff Ballinger. It really vindicates the city council s decision which was really intended to benefit everybody in downtown and the rest of the city. I felt all along the city followed proper procedures and this is confirmation of that.
Palm Springs Art Museum has a new installation in the lot across from its main campus.
Artist Gonzalo Lebrija s History of Suspended Time (A monument for the impossible) features a car suspended over a pool of liquid, seeming as if it is frozen in time, according to the museum.
The installation is meant to encourage thought about “suspension and the passage of time focusing on precise moments of stillness and impact. said Rochelle Steiner, the museum s chief curator and director of public programs and education.
The museum will present an exhibition titled American Roads in tandem with the installation, according to Steiner. It is a portfolio of photographs that capture our love of and dependence upon cars, while also contemplating the complexity of this country’s major highways and local roads,” Steiner said in a prepared statement.
