Update: Police locate man accused of kidnapping 8-year-old at a Palm Springs hotel
UPDATE: 1/26/2021 - Police have a man in custody related to a recent kidnapping investigation.
Palm Springs Police say, On 01/26/2021 at about 8:30 am, Palm Springs PD Detectives located the kidnapping suspect in the 400 Block of S. Indian Canyon Drive. The suspect is temporarily being held in Palm Springs on two felony charges while detectives continue the investigation. Further information will be released later, but detectives are confident the suspect we have in custody was involved in this incident. The Palm Springs Police Department would like to thank our community and the media for sharing of our social media post that most certainly helped us locate this individual. We will provide an update when one comes available.
Palm Springs police deploy body-worn and vehicle cameras
The Palm Springs Police Dept. said it has deployed about a third of its new body-worn cameras.
News Channel 3 got an exclusive inside look at the technology in November. Police said their goal is to improve transparency, and provide proof of their encounters.
The department said the new cameras are currently being worn by about 30 officers as training continues, but eventually all officers will wear one. It s always good for the public to see what we do on a day to day basis, said Sgt. Mike Casavan.
Officers will have the capability to turn on and off the cameras, but they re required to be recording during every interaction. Police said their goal is to provide proof of their encounters.

CABAZON, CA A Palm Springs man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of leading authorities on a 20-mile pursuit in a stolen vehicle, prior to crashing and attempting to make a run for it.
Officers attempted a traffic stop of a vehicle reported stolen just after midnight in the area of South Palm Canyon Drive and La Verne Way in Palm Springs, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
The driver later identified as 48-year-old Christopher Wilson allegedly failed to stop.

Wilson allegedly led Palm Springs police onto Highway 111, where California Highway Patrol officers took over and chased him until the vehicle crashed into a fence near Canyon Lanes at Morongo in Cabazon, police said.

Detectives say the surveillance pictures show a burglary suspect who made his way into a North Sunrise Way home through an unlocked sliding glass door. It happened Tuesday night, just before 9:00.
According to detectives, A female victim inside the residence heard the door open and suddenly saw the suspect, who is not known to her, inside her home. The female victim screamed after the suspect physically accosted her which caused the suspect to immediately flee on foot from the location.
