Coronavirus claims 9 more lives in KP
PESHAWAR: The deadly coronavirus claimed nine more lives and infected 458 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
With the latest fatalities, the death toll from the infectious disease rose to 4,477 in KP. The viral infection has infected 1,45,306 people in the province so far. Of nine fatalities, five were reported from Peshawar alone.
Peshawar has lost 2,166 people to the infectious disease since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. Besides Peshawar, two patients each died in Swat and Abbottabad.Of 458 positive cases, Peshawar reported 215, Abbottabad 49, Mansehra 47, Mardan and Swat 19 each, Kohat and Chitral Lower also reported 14 cases each.

Judge Naveed Ahmad Khan accepted the applications filed by four officers, including former DIG Headquarters Peshawar Dr Mohammad Suleman (now IB DG), former AIG (Establishment) at Central Police Office Kashif Alam (now AIG), former DIG (Telecommunications) Sadiq Kamal Orakzai (now retired) and DIG at the CPO Sajid Ali Khan (now Bannu DIG), under Section 265-K of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Section 265-K empowers the trial court to acquit an accused at any stage of the case if it doesn’t see any probability of the accused being convicted.

LAHORE: The City received around 99mm rain here Tuesday inundating all major roads, greenbelts, open places and temporarily established markets for the sale of sacrificial animals.
The rain started early Tuesday and continued till noon. It damaged the temporarily established sale points of sacrificial animals due to which a large number of sellers thronged City roads with their animals. Mostly every greenbelt or open plot in various localities was flooded with sacrificial animals.
As per the data released by Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), the highest rain of 99mm was recorded at Farrukhabad and lowest was recorded at 40.6mm on Jail Road. The data showed that 97mm rain was recorded at Pani Wala Talab and Nishtar Town each, 86.3mm rain at Lakshmi Chowk, 86mm at Johar Town, 73mm at Samanabad, 68mm at Gulshan-e-Ravi, 80mm each at Chowk Nakhuda and Punjab University, 59mm at Tajpura, 58mm at Iqbal Town, 53mm at Upper Mall and Mughalpura each, 46.5mm at Wasa head office and 44mm at Airport.

PESHAWAR: An official of the Meteorological Department here on Sunday predicted that the temperatures exceeded to 40 degrees in 6 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, He said that Timergara, Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Pathan and Darosh were in the grip of extreme heat.
The highest temperature of 42 degrees Celsius was recorded in Dera Ismail Khan, 41 degrees Celsius in Peshawar, Dorsh, Pathan and Timergarh during the last 24 hours, the official of the Meteorological Department said. He disclosed that there was no chance of rain in the last 24 hours and the weather would remain hot and dry in most districts of the province.
