Cape Teacher of the Year to be named June 2

District to recognize teachers earning building-level honors May 19, 2021 The Cape Henlopen School District will announce its Teacher of the Year June 2 at a special celebration honoring teachers earning building-level honors and their invited guests. Teachers vying for the top honor represent the following schools: Brian Walley, Beacon Middle; Kelci Atkins, Cape High; Nina Wilkinson, H.O. Brittingham Elementary; Donna Gibson, Love Creek Elementary; Alison Herman, Mariner Middle; Panayi “Pete” Stephanos, Milton Elementary; Tiffany McMahon, Rehoboth Elementary; Maura Johnson, Shields Elementary; and Bob Sabolcik, Sussex Consortium. The district Teacher of the Year will represent Cape at the state level in the fall. The 2022 Delaware Teacher of the Year will be named Monday, Oct. 11, Department of Education spokesperson Alison May said.

Academy of Notre Dame s Isabella Langley is Main Line Student of the Week

A senior at Academy of Notre Dame, Isabella Langley is a National Merit Commended Scholar. She’s taking four AP classes and is a member of the school’s Dance Company, which requires auditioning. Langley was is one of three students whose Semester 1 GPAs qualified her to represent the Notre Dame Class of 2021 at the 41st Annual Academic Honors Convocation and Prayer at the Cathedral Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul May 18. A member of the Global Scholars program, she also belongs to Model UN, Diversity Club, Environmental Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, The Gates Newspaper, and Student Ambassadors. Cleveland State Announces Commencement Speakers Friday, April 30, 2021 Rebecca Phanor Cleveland State Community College has chosen students Samary Holguin and Rebeccah Phanor as keynote speakers for the Spring 2021 Commencement Ceremonies. Approximately 400 degrees and certificates will be awarded during two graduation ceremonies. The first will be held on Friday, May 7, at 5:30 p.m., and the second will be held on Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m. Both ceremonies will be held in the L. Quentin Lane Center.   “To enable our face-to-face graduation ceremonies we needed to control our overall attendance,” said Dr. Bill Seymour, CSCC president. “Rather than inviting outside speakers, we decided to utilize members of the graduating class. So, it made sense to go with two of our most outstanding students.”
