The D.C. National Guard is paying nearly double the going rate in order to house hundreds of troops in high-end Georgetown who are deployed to Washington after the Capitol riot. That placement puts some of them 4 miles closer to the legislative hall than comparable suburban hotels costing 40% less.
Guard members from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California have been staying at four Georgetown hotels since late January and early February, the
Washington Examiner confirmed Tuesday by speaking to Guard members and hotel staff in English- and Spanish-language interviews.
Guard members were also observed entering and exiting three of the four hotels, and they confirmed they were staying there.

After watching NJ Transit and Coach USA commuters get smart phone apps, Academy Bus commuters finally have a new app to buy tickets, plan trips and even get information about other transit services.
The Hoboken based bus company also is offering a new ticket option to the monthly pass, a 40-trip ticket designed to address commuting patterns that have changed, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Academy announced both on Wednesday.
The app, named SilverPass, uses technology from two providers, the designers of the worldwide Moovit transit app, that can be set up to provide information for different metropolitan transit systems, and Masabi fare payment platform.

NJ Transit trains, buses and light rail service will return on Tuesday at varying times depending on the region of the state, while service on three private commuter bus lines remains suspended after Monday’s snowstorm that was measured in feet in some parts of the state.
