Mother And Daughter Both Graduating From North Carolina College

One woman in North Carolina is donning a cap and gown for the very first time, after missing her own high school graduation as a teen mom. Marcia Thomas, 49, is graduating this weekend years after returning to school two years ago. One major difference, however, is making this celebration even sweeter. We re graduating together! said Amanda Ross, Thomas oldest daughter. I think I m more excited this time. Both Thomas and Ross are graduating from Fayetteville State University, ABC 11 reports. Ross, who had previously earned her undergraduate degree from the school, is being awarded her master s in social work.

Fayetteville State University hires Monica Terrell Leach as provost

Fayetteville State University announced Monday the hiring of a provost, a position considered vitally important by the school’s new chancellor. Monica Terrell Leach will serve as FSU’s provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs starting June 1, according to a statement released by the university. She is currently senior associate vice chancellor for enrollment management and academic affairs at North Carolina Central University. The FSU board of trustees met in closed session for about 14 minutes during a special meeting on Friday to discuss a personnel matter. The board took no action in open session, and a university spokesman said the board is not required to announce what it discussed in closed session.
