2 electrocuted after ladder strikes power lines in Lancaster Wednesday

Two workers were injured with one being hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after they were electrocuted while working on a roof in Lancaster city, according to a supervisor with Lancaster County-Wide Communications. The workers’ ladder struck a set of power lines as they were working on the roof of a building at 830 North Prince Street, north of Clipper Magazine Stadium, just before 5 p.m., the supervisor said. First responders performed CPR on a worker who went into cardiac arrest, while another worker sustained head injuries after falling off the ladder, according to dispatch reports. One of the workers was transported to Lancaster General Hospital with unknown injuries, the supervisor said. The status of the other worker was not immediately clear.

A truck struck a utility pole in East Hempfield Township on Monday afternoon, knocking power out in the area, according to a supervisor with Lancaster County-Wide Communications. The truck, which belongs to a landscaping company, struck a pole at Marietta Avenue and Robin Road at around 4:36 p.m., the supervisor said. No one was injured in the crash, though power was lost in the area, the supervisor said. Marietta Avenue was closed between Estelle Drive and Centerville Road. Woman killed after train strikes vehicle in Upper Leacock Township [update]

A woman was killed after a train struck a car on railroad tracks in Upper Leacock Township on Wednesday afternoon, according to a supervisor with Lancaster County-Wide Communications. The train crashed into a Ford Fusion at the Dart Container Corporation at 60 East Main Street near Leola at 3:17 p.m., the supervisor said. A woman was confirmed dead as a result of the crash, according to Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni. The woman was believed to be the only occupant in the vehicle. The woman will be brought into the forensic center for further examination, Diamantoni said. There will most likely be an external examination on the woman to assess the extent of her injuries.
