The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area ll Command, Onne Port, Rivers State, has uncovered 1,387 cartons of prohibited Tramadol tablets concealed with 1000 cartons of ceramic tiles.
Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Auwal Mohammed, who displayed the seized items to newsmen in Onne, said it was found in 1x40ft container no: MRKU0764717, that was picked as a result of intelligent gathering from international security network, and transferred to the Government Warehouse for 100 per cent physical examination.
“We are always ready to conduct 100 per cent examination. We will not be pushed to do anything in a hurry as the clearance procedure is well explained. Hundred percent examination is one of the key aspects of the clearance procedure in Nigeria. Therefore, all importers should know that making unclear or false electronic declaration does not mean they will have an easy way out with their consignment.

The officers of the Nigeria Customs Service have arrested a money laundering suspect, Abubakar Sale, recovering 54 ATM cards from him.
The Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service in Kano, S.P Umar on Wednesday handed over the suspect to the Head of Kano Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mualledi Farouq Dogondaji, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
According to a statement by the EFCC, the Customs officers at the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport nabbed the suspect while he was attempting to board an Ethiopian Air plane to Turkey.
During the arrest, 54 ATM cards from different banks, all bearing various names, were recovered from him.
Mohammed said officials of the command picked the container as a result of intelligent gathering from the international security network and the seizures were transferred to the Government Warehouse for 100% physical examination.
He said: “Hundred percent examination is one of the key aspects of the clearance procedure in Nigeria. Therefore, all importers should know that making false electronic declarations does not mean they will have an easy way out with their consignment.”

Similarly, Customs raided the car mart of the Katsina State Caretaker Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Shitu Shuibu Shitu, where they confiscated 20 vehicles.

Two dead, 10 injured as smugglers attack Customs officers in Ogun

No fewer than two persons were confirmed dead, while ten others sustained gunshot injuries as hoodlums suspected to be smugglers allegedly attacked officials of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 command at Oja-Odan in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun state on Thursday.
A statement issued by the command spokesman, DSC Bukoye Oloyede, said, based on credible intelligence, the patrol team intercepted about three hundred and twenty bags of foreign parboiled rice of 50kg each out of the large number stockpiled in a building around the said area.

A case of dog biting dog on Thursday presented itself in Taraba state, as a retired Senior Inspector of Police, Loya Genderu dragged a colleague, Sergeant Eneas Ado before the Judicial panel of inquiry on police brutality.
Genderu who walked into the panel’s hall with a broken leg pleaded with the Christopher Awubra led panel to award him a compensation of N50 million following the inhuman treatments meted on him by his colleague, which he claimed led to his deformation.
Narrating his ordeal, Genderu said the incident which led to his arrest, brutality and broken leg happened in Karim-Lamido local government in Taraba when he went request payment of debts owed him by some of his former colleagues.
