IRONTON â Ohio University Southern will celebrate the work and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with several virtual events, including the 29th Annual MLK CommUNITY Celebration, according to a news release from the university.
This yearâs theme is a quote from Dr. King: âThe ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.â
The CommUNITY Celebration will feature music, words of unity, the announcement of the 2021 Writing Contest winners, a special tribute to healthcare workers and more. The virtual celebration will air at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, on Ironton Spectrum 376, Ashland Spectrum 377 and Armstrong Access. It will also be posted on the campus social media pages.

DULUTH, Minn. - Patricia “Pat” Scheer, 80, Duluth, Minn., died Saturday, Jan. 9, in Franciscan Health Center.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., followed by a memorial Mass at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Duluth. Inurnment will be in Oneota Cemetery in Duluth. A time of fellowship and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Fondly known in Chicago printing circles as the “Polish Prints,” Stanley (Stan) J. Kukla Jr. passed away Dec. 27, 2020, at age 83. Along with his father, Stan Sr., and brothers Fred and Robert, the native Chicagoan founded Kukla Press in 1964, a commercial web offset printing business then-located in Schiller Park, Ill.
Kukla Press, which played a role in the development of scratch and sniff sensory printing and in-line web finishing advancements, continued to expand its business and relocated to Elk Grove Village, Ill., in the mid-1970s. Stan Jr. was responsible for the sales side of the business and was named CEO of Kukla Press following the death of his father in 1975.
