Holy Family Catholic School is set to reopen Monday after possible covid-19 exposure affecting multiple faculty members prompted officials to close the Plum campus last week.
“Due to a few of our Holy Family Catholic school staff members being exposed to covid-19, we are unable to adequately fill instructional positions to make in-person learning possible,” Holy Catholic Principal Beau Quattrone said in a statement. “Looking out for the safety and well-being of our students and faculty, we decided that we will teach the rest of this week virtually.“
A GRACE news release said the donor wants to remain anonymous and have the attention focused on the teachers, who worked in person at the schools throughout the year. The Catholic school system said it implemented several COVID-19 safety measures to prevent spread of the viral and potentially fatal disease.
Jodi Sullivan, a first grade teacher at Holy Cross Catholic School, said teaching in-person during the pandemic was a challenge, but one the school system s teachers were ready for. We had to take so many things we do day in and day out and rethink those things, Sullivan said of measures taken to keep students safe.
HANNIBAL â Students from Holy Family Catholic School and Stowell Elementary School teamed up on Friday to help plant a swamp white oak tree with representatives from the Hannibal Tree Board, Hannibal Parks and Recreation and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Hannibal Tree Board President Kristy Trevathan said children have traditionally planted trees in Hannibal to celebrate National Arbor Day, including in Central Park and on school campuses in past years. The swamp white oak tree joins 11 other trees on the riverfront â seven river birches and four sycamores â which are also known for their ability to âget their feet wetâ in the event of flooding.
