MUMBAI: The health condition of tribal rights activist Stan Swamy, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, continues to be critical, his lawyer Mihir Desai said on Monday.
Till late Sunday night, the 84-year-old Jesuit priest was on ventilator support, the senior counsel told PTI.
Swamy has been undergoing treatment at the Holy Family Hospital here, following a court order on May 28.

Jesuit priest Stan Swamy, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, has died, an official of a hospital where he was being treated informed the Bombay High Court on Monday.
Swamy, 84, died at 1.30 pm on Monday, Dr Ian D Souza, director of the Holy Family Hospital in suburban Bandra, told the HC s division bench of Justices SS Shinde and NJ Jamadar.
The tribal rights activist was admitted to the private hospital on May 29 from the Taloja prison following the HC s order on a petition filed by him, seeking medical attention as he was then suffering from Covid and Parkinson s disease.

The 84-year-old Elgar Parishad accused Father Stan Swamy, an undertrial prisoner lodged at Taloja Central Prison in Maharashtra is reportedly on ventilator support on Sunday night. The news has alarmed many including the National Human Rights Commission as well as several individual activists and NGOs who have expressed their concerns regarding Swamy s health.

ISLAMABAD: After the capital city saw a continuous decline in Covid-19 positivity cases in the last 10 weeks, the ratio has started to rise again, with experts fearing that the virus could bounce back.
Moreover, 71 cases were reported on Sunday with the daily positivity rate recorded at 3.81pc.
The weekly positivity rate is considered more authentic as the number of cases can increase or decrease on a certain day.
According to documents available with
Dawn, the weekly (Monday to Sunday) positivity rate remained over 10pc in April but then saw a downward trend. In the week that ended on May 2, the infection ratio was 9.24pc as 2,911 cases were reported during this period. However, it gradually declined to 2.46pc in the last week of May when 804 patients were detected.
