A furry friend deployed from Fort Wayne church helping those mourning from Indianapolis shooting Unmute FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne s NBC) To help those grieving after the mass shooting in Indianapolis, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne is providing a furry friend for comfort. Lutheran Church Charities is a non-profit organization that has 130 K-9 comfort dogs in 27 other states. They re partnering with Holy Cross Lutheran Church. One of those dogs right here in Fort Wayne, Jared the Comfort Dog.  President & CEO of the Lutheran Church Charities Tim Hetzner told Fort Wayne s NBC News Jared arrived to Indianapolis Friday afternoon and will be there until Tuesday. 

Vail Interfaith Chapel to close weekdays for renovations, weekend services to continue

Vail Police Department Chief Dwight Henninger speaks to the crowd during the groundbreaking event Monday at the Vail Interfaith Chapel. The chief spoke because he says the place of worship is far more than a church and that it s a pillar of the community used for a multitude of purposes. Special to the Daily The Vail Religious Foundation announced that the Vail Interfaith Chapel building will be closed to the public on weekdays through June 15 for construction renovations taking place on site. However, the Vail Interfaith Chapel will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays for regularly scheduled worship services and special events throughout construction this spring.

Lohart Lloyd Renner 1926-2021 At age 95, Lohart Lloyd Renner passed away peacefully on March 22, 2021 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, MN. Lohart was born on January 31, 1926 to Hugo A. and Elsie A. (Gatzke) Renner in Bismarck township, Sibley county, MN. He was the oldest of four siblings. Lohart grew up on the family farm near Brownton, MN. Lohart graduated from Brownton High School in 1944. After graduation he attended Dunwoody Institute to study carpentry. A majority of his work life was with Mortenson Construction of Minneapolis. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of several game and hunting associations.

Austin church spreading Easter cheer

Easter is on Sunday and it's a day that's important to many people for a number of reasons. One local church in Austin is giving back to their community in a unique way this year, "We want to send a message of hope and love," Gemechu Olana, pastor for Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rochester said.
