James Arthur Art Kalivas (April 14, 1950 - April 12, 2021)

James Arthur “Art” Kalivas, 70, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He lived most of his life in Green River and spent several years snowbirding to Mesquite, Nevada. He died following a courageous battle with an aggressive form of cancer, surrounded by his family. God called him home as his work was complete, where he is now free from pain. He was born April 14, 1950 in Rock Springs, Wyoming; the son of John Kalivas and Irene Bekiarellis Kalivas. Advertisement - Story continues below. Art attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1968 graduate of Green River High School with continued education at WCCC and UW. James married Karen Larimore shortly after his high school graduation and they later divorced after sharing three sons.

Holy Trinity Philoptochos topics are festival, charities STEUBENVILLE The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church’s Philoptochos Society held its dinner meeting on April 1 at the Steubenville Country Club with Vice President Rana Levenderis presiding. Under old business, Levenderis reviewed donations that were made in March, benefiting the International Orthodox Christian Charities, Valley Hospice and the Sycamore Youth Center in Steubenville. The Ohio Valley Health Center was the designated charity for April. Under new business, the society is planning to have the Grecian Food Festival at the end of June. Standing here, in front of the only full-scale replica of the Parthenon in the world, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride. That here in this City – the heartland of America – such appreciation and love for Greece, expressed so manifestly, is deeply moving and inspiring. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church hands out free sack lunches Unmute Members of the group said they made about 250 sack lunches. People could drive or walk up and pick from turkey or ham sandwiches. The lunches also included a fruit cup, chips, a cookie and water. The literal translation of philoptochos is friends of the poor. And the ladies group is doing a Lenten outreach to provide a full sack lunch to the community. We know that there s a need right now. There s always a need but especially over the last year, said Andrea Konidas, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
