10-year-old-girl shaves head to raise money for Cancer Research UK This determined 10-year-old girl from Marlow has shaved her head in solidarity with those suffering from cancer. After raising over £1,000 in just under the first three days donations continue to flood in for the fundraiser. There have been words of encouragement and donations from teachers at Holy Trinity School, friends, family, neighbours throughout the month. Willow, who herself has a number of health issues, said: “Mummy there are people worse off than me - we should try to help them.” All the money raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK who fund scientists, doctors, and nurses to help beat cancer whilst also providing cancer information to the public.

Stourbridge ATC Cadet Sgt named Lord-Lieutenant s Cadet

A MEMBER of Stourbridge Squadron Air Training Corps has been awarded the prestigious role of Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet for the West Midlands. Cadet Sergeant Alex Brown, aged 16, has told of his delight at being selected for the top role which is awarded to one cadet from each of the six regions of the UK. Cadets are selected and appointed based on their outreach and participation within their squadron, detachment or unit, and the role is seen as one of the highest achievements in the Cadet Forces. As the Lord Lieutenant s Cadet Alex’s duties will include accompanying the Lord Lieutenant at events such as Her Majesty the Queen s garden party and other military services including Remembrance Day and Battle of Britain day, as well as royal visits to the Midlands.
