Arrest made following dodgy R500 000 Health Department tender probe

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations, (DCIP) – better known as the Hawks – have made an arrest relating to an investigation into claims that the Northern Cape Department of Health has been defrauded to the tune of nearly R500 000.
A dodgy tender awarded to a company that promised to supply vinyl sheeting to the Kuruman Hospital was probed after irregularities within the contract were discovered last year, with several employees from the department arrested in November 2021.

Court interpreter bust for corruption! Oris Mnisi
A FAMOUS court interpreter was arrested for corruption by the Hawks in Mpumalanga.
The 40-year-old interpreter was bust on Friday, 16 April at Mkhuhlu Magistrates Court outside Hazyview in Mpumalanga as he posed for journalists to take photos of him.
Hawks spokeswoman Captain Dineo Sekgotodi told
Daily Sun that the interpreter allegedly demanded money from a man facing charges of assault and violating a protection order.
“On different days the interpreter demanded money from the suspect saying he would withdraw the cases against him. He went again to him and demanded more money for bail. And later he demanded another amount of money saying it was for trial court. The interpreter ended up saying his car doesn’t have petrol, and demanded more money. A SENIOR traffic officer (32) at Msukalikwa Municipality in Gert Sibande District, Mpumalanga was granted R1 500 bail by the Ermelo Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 3 March.
He was arrested by Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation members and members of Road Traffic Management Corporation Head Office in Mpumalanga for corruption.
Mpumalanga Hawks spokeswoman Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said his arrest came after several complaints were received about law enforcement officers who were allegedly soliciting bribes from the public who commit traffic violations.
“The operation was conducted on 22 February, where the said officer allegedly demanded bribery from officials who were undercover agents.
