Ryman Healthcare has had a record start to the year and has announced the purchase of a large new retirement village site in Melbourne.
Group Chief Executive Gordon MacLeod told shareholders at Ryman’s annual meeting in Wellington that its villages were in strong demand.
“We’ve had a record start to the year, with cash receipts of $403 million in the first quarter, up 82% on the COVID-impacted first quarter of last year,’’ Mr MacLeod said.

Kuranui College from Wellington have taken out the
top spot in the National Final for Showquest, the country s
largest performing arts competition for schools.
The
Kuranui team themed their piece around the Waikeria prison
riots. Anna Laybourn, a student leader on the Kuranui
College team, explained they had decided on that theme
“because it wasn’t really talked about at all. It’s
pretty important and we needed to get that message out to a
bigger audience”.
In the Junior section, available
as an option for teams of students years 1-8, Levin East
School from the Manawatū region took out the winning spot

Hawke’s Bay people are lining up to have their COVID-19
vaccine with the region this week surpassing 60,000 doses
administered.

Keriana Brooking said today vaccine bookings were steady as
Group 4 bookings opened to people aged 60 and
