A FREE music event will take place in Barrow Park this Saturday. Musical Machines, the event hosted by creative group Full of Noises, will be held at Barrow Park bandstand on Saturday May 15 from noon – 5pm. Participants will be able to make their own music using a range of ‘invented instruments’. A spokesman for the event said: “We’ll be turning Barrow Park bandstand into a hub for visitors to play music with specially built DIY instruments. “Attractions will include The Large Hadron Collider by Sam Underwood, The Chaos Machine by Sarah Kenchington, The Chopping Board Orchestra by FoN & Human Organs by John Hall.
Barrow 16-year-old arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm
The incident took place at about 6pm on May 10 in Barrow Park, Abbey Road.
Police and paramedics attended the scene.
A 16-year-old male was taken to Furness General Hospital with head injuries. He was later transferred to Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool. His injuries are not believed to be life-changing at this time.

BARROW art collective Art Gene are set to deliver the second instalment of their ‘Armchair Walks’. The free online event, started last year during the first lockdown, is a chance for people to discover hidden spaces in Barrow. Armchair Walks are part of the group’s Extreme Views programme, which aims to promote engagement and events around the extreme coastal landscape of Barrow and Furness. MAIL readers have shown concern after a number of turtles were spotted in Barrow in suspected cases of abandonment. A member of the public captured a picture of a turtle, thought to be a terrapin, at Barrow reservoir last week. The latest sighting is in addition to other incidences of turtles being spotted across the town. Between 3 March to 6 July 2020 there were 353 abandonment incidents for exotic pets reported to the RSPCA. Readers have shared the animal charity’s concern in the growing numbers of turtles being abandoned. Sam Purcell said: “We found one near the duck pond at Liberata. I wanted to bring it home but the other half wouldn’t let me.”
